Social work is like a bridge. Many of our clients are disadvantaged, and the services that we provide act as a bridge for them to join us on the other side. Becoming a social worker for me is an extension of myself—helping people has always been something I love to do. Being a social worker is getting paid to do what I love! The best part of social work is getting to build relationships with your clients and seeing them grow and change as people. The more passion and care you bring to your work, the more results you will see. At my field placement within a correctional facility, I was able to see the profound impact that trauma counseling had on the inmates and the leaps and bounds they made in processing their trauma and moving forward to live productive lives.
