about the disruptor
The Disruptor is a completely student-run publication housed within the Social Work Community Outreach Service (SWCOS) at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. We aim to connect the student body, strengthen student organizing, connect with alumni, amplify student voices, and promote critical thinking and engagement.
We welcome submissions from students and alumni of UMB SSW. Please check for the latest theme prompts and send us your work. We want to hear and share as many different voices as possible.
We are just getting started, so while we have many goals, we are doing what we can with our current capacity. The structure is designed to be flexible so the journal can become whatever kind of space student leadership feels it needs to be, which may change over time.
For now, we are excited to share with you our thoughts and those of our colleagues on current events, the social work profession, social work education, our school, and any issues that become relevant to us as students, as social workers, and as citizens of the world.
